Tool Care
Tool Tips - Care and Safety with Air Power Tools
- Never carry an air tool by the hose
- Disconnect tools when not in use, before servicing, and when changing accessories such as blades, bits and cutters
- Do not attempt to service machine unless qualified to do so
- Secure the workpiece with clamps or a vice, allowing both hands to be free to operate the tool.
- Do not clamp the machine body in a vice
- Power tools should be regularly maintained. Always follow the user's instruction manual for lubrication and changing of accessories
- Do not wear loose clothing, ties or jewelry when using power tools
- Always wear eye and face protection, protective clothing and safety shoes
- Proper, effective hearing protection should be worn when working with noisy tools such as power hammers and breaking tools
- Do not use a machine without guards where supplied
- Do not use a power tool for work beyond its prescribed capability
- Check that speed of abrasive wheel is compatible with the machine speed
- Oil air tools on a regular basis. Ideally at the end of each working day
- Ensure the air system delivers 90psi min. air pressure with the tool running. A lower pressure will reduce performance
- Only black impact sockets & accessories should be used with air operated impact wrenches or ratchets. Any other sockets could shatter or break.
- Bits should always be placed against the work surface before an air hammer is operated.
- Never point an air tool at yourself or another person.
